European Maritime Week 2026, held in Limassol, Cyprus on 21–22 May, is one of Europe’s flagship gatherings for the maritime and blue economy community. The event brings together policymakers, industry leaders, educators, researchers, and innovators to exchange ideas, showcase solutions, and shape the future of Europe’s seas and maritime sectors.
As part of the programme, LeaderSHIP4Skills will host an interactive workshop on Friday, 21 May 13:40 – 14:55, highlighting concrete actions to strengthen maritime skills, boost workforce development, and support the sector’s green and digital transition. A key opportunity to connect, learn, and co-create skills solutions at European level.
This workshop examines how European cooperation initiatives—such as the Shipbuilding Pact for Skills and the LeaderSHIP project—provide practical solutions for developing maritime skills in line with the six priorities of the European Ocean Pact. The LeaderSHIP project supports this effort by promoting a unified skills framework and delivering targeted training for the maritime technology sector, ensuring strong alignment with the EU’s industrial, environmental, and digital policy objectives.
Through interactive dialogue, the workshop aims to identify concrete partnership models and define a shared skills agenda that strengthens Europe’s capacity to build a sustainable, resilient, and globally competitive blue economy.
